NATIONAL STATE OF DISASTER ON COVID-19 LIFTED

The national state of disaster on Covid-19 in South Africa was lifted from midnight on 4 April 2022.

  • Wearing of face masks in a public  place is mandatory but this will be reviewed in 30 days time.

The latest Covid variant is Omicron XE, which is claimed to be more transmissible than its predecessors but based on latest evidence, it should not have a greater impact on the health care system. If you are deemed to be in a vulnerable age category or have comorbidities you should however continue to be responsible concerning your interaction with other people and wear a suitable mask when in public places.

See https://sacoronavirus.b-cdn.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/46195_4-4_CoOperativeGovernance.pdf  for latest regulations.

A daily, fact based, video presentation by Dr John Campbell at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCF9IOB2TExg3QIBupFtBDxg is a useful source for information on Covid in general.
